Paranoia of alkaline water - Understanding PH

The unique properties of free of metals, spotless water actually make PH measurements in our body unnecessary.

It is a totally erroneous perception that alkaline water is the key to a perfect health, although claims for the benefits of alkaline water are not supported by reliable data. Smart vendors and marketers rely on overpriced testimonies and pseudo-scientific studies to promote alkaline water as a powerful antioxidant that can prevent or even reverse many diseases such as cancer and arthritis, give extra energy, correct it metabolism and reduce the aging process of our organism. There is no scientific proof that all these claims are true.

In the war of water, the supporters of alkaline water not only promote the benefits of alkaline water but occasionally oppose the use of reverse osmosis. They even believe that drinking water from reverse osmosis is bad because water can become slightly acidic. The truth is that the unique properties of a metal-free water actually makes PH measurement unnecessary for our organism. Deionized water, rain water and water from some springs also have the same properties which make it acid.

Explanation of PH and why this matters.

In order to better understand how our organization is completely indifferent to this conflict, it is essential to understand how it works and what is PH. PH is a quantitative measure of the hydrogen ions representing the acidity or alkalinity of a solution. The acidic solution has more free hydrogen ions and the alkaline solution has fewer hydrogen ions. Any substance that reduces PH is considered to be acidic, and any substance that elevates PH is considered to be alkaline. Buffers are substances that allow water to resist pH change when an acidic or alkaline substance is added to it.

PH measurements ranged from 0 to 14. Neutral PH is 7. pH less than 7 is acidic and pH greater than 7 is alkaline. PH is logarithmic, so for each pH change unit, there is a tenfold change in ion concentration. This means that a pH 3 solution is ten times more acidic than a pH 4 solution and one hundred times more acidic than a solution of PH 5.

Effects on PH range from reverse osmosis water.

Extremely pure and filtered reverse osmosis water has a neutral PH, it has pH 7. Since there are no dissolved solids (TDS) in the water, there is nothing that can affect PH either to make it more acidic or more alkaline. Reverse osmosis water is so pure and at the same time sensitive that the slightest addition of any substance changes its PH directly. Even a small amount of carbon dioxide from the air can reduce its PH to number 6 on the PH range. For the same reason, even a small amount of an alkaline substance such as baking soda will raise the PH level of water from reverse osmosis to levels above 7. On the other hand, mineral water needs much more acid or alkaline to affect levels of its PH. The difference lies in the presence of these buffers that make water more powerful in these changes.

When you drink slightly acidic reverse osmosis water, it immediately joins with the acidic enzymes found in our saliva and helps in digestion, and seconds later with very acidic enzymes and gastric fluids that are in our stomach without affecting our PH. In short, the highly sensitive water of reverse osmosis immediately adapts to our body, rather than the other way, that is, our body adapts to the water we just drowned. The very potent hydrochloric acid in our stomach that has 1 PH is 100,000 times more acidic than the slightly acidic water of the reverse osmosis we drink. This makes the PH level of reverse osmosis totally insignificant.

Reasons not to drink alkaline water

According to Dr. Bob Arnot, MD, a well-known author and nutritionist, in a recent article in Men's Health magazine, "Say no to alkaline water! It's a scam!" Your body is designed to adapt to the optimum for the same PH level no matter what you consume For example, once alkaline water enters your stomach, your body simply "drops" more acid to deactivate it ".

Stomach is designed to be acidic, it must produce more acid every time you drink alkaline water to balance the dissolution of gastric juices. In a healthy bowel, continuous and long-term consumption of alkaline water can cause an abnormal digestive state. Even drinking alkaline water along with meals can disrupt the natural acidity of the digestive system and cause digestive problems.

Maintaining proper stomach acidity is essential for protecting against bacteria and contaminating them. The acidic environment destroys pathogens that can be consumed either by food or by water. Changing the acidic environment in our stomach leaves us vulnerable to infections. Too many people over 60 years of age suffer from some form of low stomach acid disease. This is obviously worsened by the consumption of alkaline water.

Do not always believe what you hear

Despite the warnings, most people want the best possible health without the sacrifices they are required in order to do in a safe way.

In spite of all the warnings, most people want the best health without the sacrifices needed to achieve it safely. We all love the idea of a quick fix. What better way to correct years of poor nutrition, zero exercise and chronic dehydration than by simply drinking alkaline water? Savvy marketers prey on these consumers, selling useless products that may cause severe long-term side effects. Using nothing more than sales fiction, they have beguiled trusting consumers and created a thriving market for expensive alkalizing gizmos known as ionizers.

These popular ionizers, according to scientists, are not only medically baseless and worthless, but also possibly dangerous. Four Japanese studies have been published in peer journals and independently verified showing that alkaline water caused pathological changes in heart cell muscles and increased the risk of heart attack in laboratory animals.
Normal cells die under extremely alkaline conditions. A study published in the Journal of Biological Chemistry found that alkalosis (rising cellular pH) causes alkaline-induced cell death as a result of altering mitochondrial function. These results raise very serious doubts about the safety of alkaline water.
Dr. David Brownstein, author, international lecturer and foremost practitioner of holistic medicine, said, “I disagree with the claims made about alkaline water. The claims about the benefits of drinking alkaline are made with no supporting evidence. The best way to optimize your pH is to eat a healthy diet full of minerals and vitamins. Eating refined foods like white flour, sugar and salt promote acidity.”
The wide range of pH values needed throughout the body is exquisitely balanced, primarily through a complex system of buffering and breathing. There are, however, some simple things you can do to maintain a naturally healthy pH. Eating more fruits and vegetables, practicing deep breathing and drinking plenty of pure hydrating water will enable your body to more easily remove toxins and acid metabolic wastes.
Other factors, such as lack of exercise, emotional stress, medication, coffee, alcohol and smoking, can adversely affect the internal pH of your body over an extended period of time. Thus, improved health is not a quick-fix but a slow, cumulative process consisting of numerous lifestyle choices.
It is my sincere hope that this combination of scientific studies, expert advice and common horse sense settles the pH debate so we can all freely enjoy the pure, oxygen-rich elixir of life without any pH paranoia.

There, his main project was to redesign the company's products into new applications so as to become more environmentally friendly. In combination with the fact that in the UK people are more familiar with water filters, he has developed a love for environmentally friendly water filters, which reduce the use of plastic bottles and improving people's quality of life.

Since 2008, he has published over 300 unique educational and informative articles on water filters and new water treatment technologies.

Occasionally, universities and doctoral students request to use George Margiolos' articles in their research because of their quality and uniqueness.
