Which home water filter should I choose?
1st STEP: Choose where to install it.
First of all you need to decide if you will install your filter above or below your kitchen counter. Countertop water filters are particularly stylish and install very quickly and without tools. However, if you have a small kitchen counter, you may want to opt for an under-counter filter. If you choose an under-sink water filter then you have the option of connecting it directly to your cold water supply (ie every time you turn on your tap in the cold the water will be filtered) or connecting it to its own separate tap for filtered water only. You can also choose to buy a three-way faucet.
There are also other water filters such as tap water filters, water filter jugs, whole house filters, shower filters that are ideal for sensitive skin or allergies, washing machine filters, water softeners, etc.
2nd STEP: Choose whether to buy a single, double or even triple filter depending on your water's quality. If you simply want to improve the taste & smell of water and reduce harmful substances then choose a single filter. But if you also have a lot of sediment in your water, then choose a double filter (the first stage will include a sediment reduction filter and the second stage an activated carbon block filter). If, for example, you have a lot of sediment but also a lot of limescale, then choose a triple filter (salt reduction filter, sediment reduction filter and activated carbon filter). If you have more issues with your water then you better install a reverse osmosis system.
