Primato CBR3 activated carbon filter:
- Reduces nitrates and improves the taste and odour of water.
- The filter consists of 50% activated carbon and 50% nitrate reduction resin. It combines the significant improvement of the smell and taste of water with the simultaneous reduction of nitrates.
- Reduces: pesticides, herbicides, trihalomethanes, residual chlorine, total organic carbon, industrial organic compounds (tetrachlorethylene, trichlorethylene), dissolved organic compounds, organic color, dissolved iron, manganese, nitrates NO3
- Significantly improves the taste and smell of water.
- Effectively reduces nitrates.
- The permitted nitrate limit in Europe is 50mg/L. If the water is running at normal flow and pressure, then this filter will handle 1000 liters of drinking water and reduce nitrate levels to 0 or at most up to 5mg/L.
- We recommend taking frequent measurements (quarterly or bimonthly) to determine when the nitrate filter needs to be changed.
- Various factors that affect nitrate levels are: animal waste, industrial waste, sewage and wastewater, nitrogen fertilizers and agricultural pesticides.
- Nitrates NO3 (woods NO2, ammonia NH4 - "nitrogen cycle") of nitrogen fertilizers, when they enter our stomach through drinking water, form N-nitroso compounds, which are carcinogenic. In babies younger than 6 months they cause methemoglobinemia (or methemoglobinemia or cyanosis or "blue baby syndrome") with tragic consequences.
- The permitted limit of 50mg/L is already excessive, considering that in the USA, the corresponding limit is 10mg/L.
- Nitrates are extremely carcinogenic and you should change the filter before the level rises to 10mg/L.
- Fits to most 10" housings.
- Shelf life 6 months to one year. The change depends solely on the water quality of your area.
- High removal of suspended solids up to 5 microns (1 micron=1 millionth of a meter).
- In case you don't have room for a dual system where one filter is activated carbon and the other is nitrate reducing resin, this filter is perfect for you as it is essentially two in one.
What is activated carbon:
Activated carbon is a completely natural product and visually appears as a fine, odorless, tasteless and non-toxic black powder. It can be produced from peat, bamboo, charcoal, wood, sawdust, coconut husk, olive kernels and other sources. It is heated in a controlled environment and in a vacuum to obtain its characteristic porous surface. These tiny holes or pores can increase the carbon surface area from 500 to 1500 m2/gr. Due to this treatment, it can and binds various substances that come into contact with it, in liquid or gaseous form and in quantities many times its weight. One cubic centimeter of activated carbon has the same area as a surface of 50,000 square meters. Of course, the activated carbon produced from coconut shells is the most ecological and environmentally friendly!
